The selection process is very rigorous, the candidates must go through multiple interviews and auditions in order to even qualify for final hiring. The successful candidates must demonstrate their loyalty and dedication to the College and their assigned team, and most of all, their obedience to the team. At the College, a renowned men's school for its high academic as well as athletic standings, each and every staff and student are chosen based on a set of highly stringent criteria in order to ensure the best and finest on every aspect. Even down to the Team Assistants, a.k.a. the towel boys. The College believes that every personnel on the team, operating within each of their roles, makes an integral part of the team, and therefore must maintain a similar level of high quality in their abilities to fulfill their roles, as well as giving their full commitment to the team.
Once the successful candidates are chosen, and they have passed through their probation periods within their assigned sports team, the Assistants will be briefed by the coaches on the full range of their responsibilities within the team. The College's philosophy is that while the towel boys typically only manage all the supplies for the team and pick up after the athletes, it believes that these guys can also do a little more in order to have a more "participatory" role enhancing their bonding with the teammates and give them additional comforting and morale boost.
The guys in every team love this "special task" that their towel boy must perform, and every time they cannot wait for a new Assistant's probation to be over so they can start making use of the boy's special role. Team morale is as high as it could be, and bonding...well, they all love their towel boy, and he gets to hand out with the team in the locker room for hours on end after each practice or game. But their interaction wouldn't appear very conventional to any outsiders of the College...
Being a towel boy at the College is not at all an easy job compared to other similar roles elsewhere, but yet, there never seems to be any shortage of applicants wanting to fill the positions whenever available (which isn't very often). They all seem to be fully aware of what their job ultimately entails, and the applicants never have any problem about it, some are even looking forward to it too...
